Twelve excellent musicians and vocal artists ranging in age from 13 to 29 competed for scholarships totaling greater than $24,000 when the Performing Arts Scholarship Basis (PASF) held its annual competitors April 25 on the Music Academy of the West in Montecito.
These finalists had been chosen from some 25 candidates by PASF Board audition committee members Deborah Bertling, Kristine Pacheco-Bernt, Neil DiMaggio, David McKee and Adrian Spence.
The winners are:
Grownup Instrumental class: First place, Ching-Yun Chen, a doctoral candidate in piano efficiency at UCSB.
Vocal Competitors: First place, Patricia Westley, a soprano at present transitioning from Younger Artist applications to an expert opera profession. Second place, soprano Naomi Merer, who’s finishing her doctorate in vocal efficiency at UCSB.
Junior Division Instrumentalist: First place, Noelle Hadsall on piano, a scholar at Mountain View Elementary; second place, Joseph Malvinni on guitar, a scholar at La Cumbre Junior Excessive; and Holly Hadsall on piano, a scholar at San Marcos Excessive Faculty.
Honorable Point out: Olivia Barker, soprano; Grace Hu, piano; Nathaniel Hadsall, piano; Evelina McGary, piano; Zeyn and Rhyan Schweyk, piano.
Attributable to COVID-19 restrictions, the competitors was held in Lehman Corridor with the one viewers members being competitors judges Ani Aznavoorian, Paul Berkowitz and Armen Guzelimian occasion host and PASF Board president Deborah Bertling; and videographer David Bazemore.

The Performing Arts Scholarship Basis was fashioned in 1982 by the late Mrs. Lincoln Dellar to offer assist to deserving vocal and instrumental college students with skilled potential who stay and/or examine within the Santa Barbara space.
