Lions and tigers and sea dragons, too – this gloriously restored carousel will open for rides on Memorial Day inside a solar-powered roundhouse at Canalside. Customized and manufactured in 1924 by Spillman engineering in North Tonawanda, it is again dwelling after a long time away with its unique proprietor Demenick De Angelis in Boston. This uncommon, menagerie park type carousel, regarded as solely one among a dozen that had been made, has 30 horses and a lion, tiger, ostrich, deer, giraffe, mule and sea dragon. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial Day by Oct. 15.
The U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet demonstration will take to the skies over the Outer Harbor as a part of its seventy fifth season. New are the F-18 Tremendous Hornets and C-130 J-Mannequin “Fats Albert,” together with the Air Pressure’s F-16 Viper Crew, C-17 Demonstration Crew and Canadian CF-18 Hornet Crew.
