One younger Colorado Springs musician will spend her summer time with an elite group of music makers.
Trumpet participant Sophie City was chosen for the 2021 Carnegie Corridor Nationwide Youth Orchestra of america of America.

City’s affair with the trumpet started early, at 5, when she pulled her mom’s previous trumpet out of a closet and began to play. At 7, she began taking classes from trumpet participant Thomas Wilson, the affiliate conductor of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and music director of the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs. These classes will proceed till she leaves for The Shepherd Faculty of Music at Rice College in Houston within the fall.
For the final 4 years, she’s additionally studied with Philip Hembree, a trumpet participant for the Colorado Symphony in Denver.
