I agree with Renée Loth (“Think history, vote locally,” Opinion, July 16). So many individuals fail to concentrate to native politics. What occurs inside and passes by metropolis councils and choose boards is commonly simply the springboard to wider insurance policies and practices. Too many taxpayers concentrate solely to the varsity committee and to not the city council, or vice versa, when they need to take note of the interaction between them. All funds are fungible. Cops and upkeep staff find yourself at school budgets, lowering the funds for academics and faculty counselors, as a result of folks don’t concentrate.
I make a donation to a Boston mayoral race candidate despite the fact that I don’t stay in Boston, as a result of I do know what occurs with the general public unions — police, fireplace, academics, public works. There can be trickle all the way down to my neighborhood, and it’ll turn into a part of the tradition and laborious to vary.
