ATHENS, Greece (AP) — A sports activities commentator in Greece who made an on-air comment a few South Korean athlete on the Tokyo Olympics that the station referred to as racist has been fired, the nation’s state-run broadcaster stated Tuesday.
ERT tv stated it had ended its collaboration with veteran journalist Dimosthenis Karmiris as a visitor commentator following feedback he made after Jeoung Younger-sik beat Panagiotis Gionis of Greece in males’s desk tennis.
Requested in regards to the ability of South Korean desk tennis gamers, Karmiris stated “their eyes are slim so I can’t perceive how they’ll see the ball shifting backwards and forwards.”
“Racist feedback don’t have any place on public tv,” ERT stated within the assertion. “The collaboration between ERT and Dimosthenis Karmiris was terminated right this moment, instantly after the morning present.”
